Preparations
  Check your surroundings and for dead trees and branches that may fall
  Secure outdoor objects
DURING A DISASTER

Outdoors
  Immediately enter your house or a building
  If you are expecting lightning to strike, immediately bend forward, crouch and hug your knees to your chest
  Do not lie on the ground
  Avoid tall structures such as trees, fences, telephone poles, electricity poles, etc
  Stay away from conducting rods such as radio antennae, golf clubs and metal staircases or machines such as tractors and bicycles
  Stay away from drains, rivers, swamps and lakes or other bodies of water

Indoors
  Take light objects into the house
  Close all windows and doors and lock them securely
  Turn off electrical switches and gas valves, and unplug all electrical appliances
  Do not use the telephone, wireless radio or television
  Listen to radio broadcasts for the latest information
  Stay away from water taps and pipes, sinks, bath tubs or gas pipes (lightning conductors)

In a vehicle
  Stop at the roadside, away from tall trees
  Remain in the vehicle and turn on the hazard lights
  Do not stop at or drive through roads that may be flooded

AFTER A DISASTER

  Ensure that there is no injury to any family member, give aid if otherwise
  Assist your neighbours and the infirm
  Report to the authorities if there are fallen lamp-posts or electricity poles, water or gas pipes that are damaged
  If you are driving, continue carefully as the road may be submerged in water or there may be debris and objects obstructing your way
