Civil Defense Student Corps (KOR SISPA)
The establishment of the Sispa Corps at the University as a co-curricular course is aimed at empowering soft skills among students. By joining the Sispa Corps, this can give added value to students in terms of soft skill and teamwork in addition to the emphasis on excellent academic achievement. Specifically, the skills that can be applied through the Sispa Corps co-curriculum are the spirit of teamwork, fostering the value of identity and love for the country.
Objective
- To give awareness and a more efficient approach to professionals about the importance of disaster management and the role of APM and attract their interest to be more inclined to serve as voluntary members of APM.
- Disseminate and educate students about personal and public safety measures at all times to face any possible disaster. It also shapes their personality to become a leader of caliber, responsibility and have specific expertise in APM.
- Produce students who are active with APM as Civil Defense Officers who are calibre, educated, responsible and skilled in carrying out their duties and who can contribute ideas of academic expertise to further strengthen disaster and emergency management.
Membership
Registration as a Sispa Corps Cadet Officer is subject to the following conditions:
- Malaysian citizens.
- IPTA/ IPTS/ IPG students who are 18 years old and above.
- Healthy body (verification by a medical officer if required).
- Not joining any other uniformed forces.
- The registration of cadet officers is supported by the IPTA/ IPTS/ IPG which has a Sispa Corps Team.
Allowance Payment
- Sispa Corps members who have valid membership are eligible to receive an allowance if they attend training organized by APM. The training does not include co-curricular training at IPTA/ IPTS/ IPG.
- Coordinating officers are eligible to receive allowances according to the rank held as per the rates set and adopted by any government circular in force.
- Allowances for coaches and assistant coaches who teach extracurricular activities of the Sispa Corps will be paid by the university according to the respective IPTA/ IPTS/ IPG rates.
Training Sillibus
- IPTA/ IPTS/ IPG Management is encouraged to hold Sispa Corps co-curriculum courses for 5 semesters. In order to meet the requirements of the syllabus as well as equip them in terms of skills, outdoor/field training will be held every semester.
- Sispa Cadet Officers will follow the Sispa Corps co-curriculum for 5 semesters. A basic certificate and skills certificate will be given by APM to students who successfully complete the course in each semester.
- While joining the Sispa Corps, Sispa Cadet Officers will go through several courses as follows:
i. Civil Defense Basic Course
ii. First Responder Life Support Course
iii. Transfer Center Management Course
iv. Training Methodology Course
v. Prospective Officer Course
- Assessment will be held at the end of each semester to qualify SMEs to get the credit hours set by the respective IPTA/IPTS/IPG.
Continuous assessment – 70% Final exam – 30%
